There are plenty of websites that teach you “prepper” techniques. While I want to be prepared for a natural disaster, I don’t want to fill my house with “just-in-case” foods. Mira stresses the importance of stocking food you will eat and how to rotate them (like chocolate!). You will actually use the foods you buy, and they won’t go bad or expire. This class teaches you how much to buy for your family, how to preserve food, and clever ways to create pantry space in your home. It also offers recommendations for first aid kits, cleaning supplies, and, of course, pet necessities.

I’ve been slowly implementing some of her instructions for emergency preparedness that go beyond kitchen and nutrition.  During a recent hurricane I was out of town, but was able to give the house-sitter immediate instructions for where to find everything she’d need to keep my home and more important, herself, safe during the crisis.  I get way more than my money’s worth in Mira’s Zoom calls, emails, Substack, book club and library of resources.
